Hi, I'm Tara and I enjoy
playing with mud.

By career I am a graphic designer, but started taking pottery classes about 10 years ago to step away from the computer for a while. This casual hobby quickly turned into something more intriguing. Most of my design work is digital, so the idea that I can produce a physical object by hand for someone to use on a daily basis has become my passion ever since.

My primary tool of choice is the wheel, but I enjoy alternating the design to give each piece individuality. I am a strong Gen Xer, and was raised on cartoons, bikes and awesome music. Years ago I found some vintage cookie cutters at an antique store, and they reminded me of the fun times I had baking with my grandma during the holiday seasons. This would, of course, be on Saturday mornings after watching the Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Show. I started to incorporate these into my pottery, and quickly spawned quite a collection of various types of cutters and impressions. It became my obsession to see how each of these looked when used in ceramics.

Back in college, one of my favorite teachers had a quote that I have always kept with me: “Surprise and delight.” This is a rule that can bring a smile to someone’s face by simply showing them something that is least expected. While I enjoy using this technique in my graphic design layouts, I find it most exciting when I use it in my pottery projects. Most of my work uses quirky designs to bring dimension to functional objects, while bringing a smile to the user’s face.

While I hope that everyone who sees my work is happy with it, I understand that we are all different people and like different things. Take a look at my ceramics, and if you like something, please click the shop button. I am more than happy to bring delight into your life. Thank you for visiting! Each piece is both microwave and dishwasher safe.

Take a peek at the new pots!

Drop me a line.

I would love to hear from you!
